چکیده

The utilisation of activated porous carbon (APC) for the removal volatile methyl siloxane (VMS) has attracted significant research attention. However, development materials with high adsorption capacity remains a challenge. In this study, we successfully developed high-specific-surface-area (2551 m2 g−1) APC material large texture (1.30 cm3 using coconut shell waste and NaOH as activating agent. performance in hexamethyldisiloxane (L2) was evaluated fixed-bed dynamic setup. Notably, at 0 °C, demonstrated remarkable L2 ability, achieving breakthrough 898.6 mg g−1. By increasing inlet concentration decreasing temperature appropriately, could be further improved. One advantage APCs is their simple recycling process, which allows sustained even after five consecutive cycles desorption. Therefore, prepared holds great promise an efficient adsorbent VMS.

Removal of Heavy Metal Ions with Acid Activated Carbons Derived from Oil Palm and Coconut Shells

In this work, batch adsorption experiments were carried out to investigate the suitability of prepared acid activated carbons in removing heavy metal ions such as nickel(II), lead(II) and chromium(VI). Acid activated carbons were obtained from oil palm and coconut shells using phosphoric acid under similar activation process while the differences lie either in impregnation condition or in both ...

Activated carbons derived from coconut shells as high energy density cathode material for Li-ion capacitors

In this manuscript, a dramatic increase in the energy density of ~ 69 Wh kg⁻¹ and an extraordinary cycleability ~ 2000 cycles of the Li-ion hybrid electrochemical capacitors (Li-HEC) is achieved by employing tailored activated carbon (AC) of ~ 60% mesoporosity derived from coconut shells (CS). The AC is obtained by both physical and chemical hydrothermal carbonization activation process, and co...

Adsorption Studies of Coconut Shell Carbons Prepared by KOH Activation for Removal of Lead(II) From Aqueous Solutions

Removal of Pb 2+ from aqueous solutions using coconut shell carbons produced by KOH activation is performed in this paper. Morphology and pore structure characteristic of coconut shell carbons are analyzed by SEM and nitrogen adsorption techniques. Effects of adsorbent concentration, agitation time and initial ion concentration on the adsorption behavior are investigated, and adsorption isother...

Removal of Heavy Metals from Dye Effluent Using Activated Carbon Produced from Coconut Shell

The ability of activated carbon produced from coconut shell to remoe mercury Hg (II), Lead Pb (II) and Copper Cu (II) from dye effluent was investigated. The activated carbon was produced through chemical activation processes by using zinc chloride (ZnCl2). The adsorption capacity was determined as a function of adsorbent dosage. The adsorption Isotherms of the studied metals on adsorbent were ...

Life Cycle Assessment of activated carbon production from coconut shells

Activated carbons have excellent performance in a number of process applications. In particular, they appear to have the most favourable characteristics for adsorption processes, thanks to their high porosity and large surface area. However, a comprehensive assessment of the environmental impacts of their manufacturing chain is still lacking. This study evaluates these impacts taking the specif...
